Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry

A Christian motorcycle ministry committed to spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Somewhere between you and Emmaus

While out exercising at the fire station yesterday, I was listening to some music and a song reminded me of this story.  Two strangers were walking down the road, sad and confused, wondering what the meaning of life is and if there is more then there appears.  Suddenly a stranger appears with them and shares with them a message of hope.  Does this story sound familiar?  It is found in Luke 24.  We read in verses 13-16, “Now that same day two of them were going to a village called Emmaus, about seven miles from Jerusalem. They were talking with each other about everything that had happened.  As they talked and discussed these things with each other, Jesus himself came up and walked along with them; but they were kept from recognizing him.”

Steve Green sings a song called "Emmaus" and the chorus says:

Somewhere between where you are and Emmaus
A stranger wants to come and walk with you
Somewhere along the way your heart will be burning
Drawn into the holy flame of truth

Right now He may be a stranger to you
What will he be when your journey's through
Somewhere between where you are and Emmaus
The Savior wants to walk with you

We all are walking on that road, somewhere between where you are and Emmaus.  We run into strangers each day, many with the same feelings as those that Jesus ministered to.  Are we sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ and the message of hope to them?  Are we leading them to Jesus and allowing the Holy Spirit to do a work through us?  At the end of these encounters, I pray that they will have the same response that Luke recorded, “Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him, and he disappeared from their sight. They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”
